HS Optikmaschinen, a manufacturer of lenses and ophthalmologic instruments, aims with its small association for development aid "Bazungu e.V." at building up functioning self-help structures in Uganda which will be adopted and run by locals on a self reliant basis later on, that means "Help for Self-Help".
In doing so, the improvement of medical care, the development of an educational training and the improvement of the economic and social situation shall be achieved. From the start Bazungu e.V. has trusted in the networked collaboration with other development aid associations and became therefore corporate member of aa/D.
Eye Care Centre Kayunga
Till present the Eye Care Centre Kayunga (Kayunga is a district town in Uganda approx. 60 km from the capital Kampala in East Africa) including equipment, optician's workshops and guest house was created. Other eye care centres in different districts of Uganda are under construction. The support of the Ophthalmic Clinic of St. Franziskus Hospital in Münster is a very special advantage for the success of the project. In the foreground of this cooperation stands the training of African ophthalmologists.
