Self-help activities of handicapped people in Kara (Togo)

The "Ami des enfants des parents handicapés" (AMEPH-TOGO) is a self-help organization of handicapped people in Togo (West-Africa). It is more than five years now that it tries with devotion and succes to enable blind and otherwise handicapped people and their families in ther region of Kara and Sokodé to live a life in dignity and self-reliance.

The main tasks of AMEPH are:

  • To enable children of handicapped people to attend school.
  • To enable handicapped people in the villages to grow maize as a basic means of subsistence by providing seed-corn and fertilizer.
  • To found small agricultural farms run by blind people with vegetable gardening and live-stock rearing (Sheep, goats, poultrty).
  • To support the school for the blind I.F.R.A. in Sokodé, which provides schooling and vocational education for blind children and grown-ups.

Furthermore, operations, artificial limbs, vocational education and studies are paid for.

This is only possible through private donations and the aid of the DBHW (German ) the grammar school and the primary school af Adenau (Germany)

The donations flow directly, without any administrative expenses into the projects about which the African partners give in each case a detailed and correct statement of accounts.

The present annual amount of money needed is about 6000 Euros.
